Temple Loses in Their Last Chance for the Season 52 – 25 at North Texas
November 28, 2025 –
Just a month ago the Temple Owls held on for a win at Tulsa holding a 5 – 3 record. The Cherry and White headed on the road toward bowl eligibility. The schedule would be a challenge, and the Owls held hope. The team lost their next three games, still eligible, but no room for another loss.
That game came today against the Mean Green of North Texas who leads the nation in total offense. The result was a 52 – 25 loss for the Cherry and White who finishes the season on a four game losing streak.
North Texas showed why they are an offensive powerhouse. The #21 Mean Green had two scoring drives of 99-yards, both took less than two minutes to complete. The first midway through the first quarter was capped by a 77-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Drew Mestemaker to wide receiver Cameron Dorner that took 1:58. The second one took place in the second quarter when running back Caleb Hawkins went 31-yards to the endzone in a 1:24 drive and a 21 – 7 lead. At that point in the game the Mean Green had just over 5 minutes in time of possession.
North Texas went ahead 35 – 7 at halftime in total control of the game.
Owls Offense
Temple quarterback Evan Simon closed his collegiate career with a scoring pass to tight end Ryder Kusch in the first quarter. Simon set a program record for most touchdown passes in a single season with 25.
