Villanova Wins the 4 x Mile Relay While Penn Posts Two Field Events Gold

The final day in the 2026 Penn Relay Carnival saw three Championship winners for the local schools. A Wheel for the Villanova Wildcats in the 4 x Mile Relay. Meanwhile in the Men’s High Jump pit Kampton Kam won the event. Over at the Shot Put another win for the Quakers as Jessica Oji topped the competition. La Salle earned a first place finish in the College Women’s 4 x 100 College Division.
Let’s take a look at how it went on a cold, windy, rainy day at Penn.
College Men’s 4 x Mile Championship of America
The race would come down to the final lap. Marco Langon took the lead for Villanova squeezing past Matan Ivin of Wisconsin. Then DMR winner Oregon anchor Simeon Birnbaum took aim at Langon. A lap that was similar to the DMR Championship except it was up to Langon to hold off Birnbaum this time. Langon by did by .05 seconds as Villanova earned their 23rd Wheel in this event. The Wildcats posted a time of 16:18.47. The championship team was comprised of Sean Donoghue (4:13.98), Ben Thomas (4:11.61), Bailey Habler (3:56.94) and Langon anchored with a split of 3:55.94, the fastest anchor runner split. Northern Arizona University placed third running a 16:19.94. Virginia was fourth covering the distance in 16:19.57. The third leg Cavalier runner Gary Martin had the fastest split of any runner posting a time of 3:54.94.
In the Women’s 4 x 1500 Championship of America only 4 teams took the the starting line. Villanova placed third running a 17:19.34. NC State won the race hitting the tape in 16:59.86 nearly 20 seconds better than Virginia who ran a time of 17:18.80. Oregon was fourth with a time of 17:25.53. Rosemary Shay Nicole Vanasse, Tilly O’Connor, and Isabelle Walsh took the baton for the Wildcats,
Men’s College High Jump Championship
Kampton Kam posted a height of 2.17m in defending his title. It was the 10th time an athlete wearing Red and Blue stripes won this event. Ethan Ruffin of FDU also jumped a 2.17m best. Kam won the event based on fewer misses at the highest jump.
College Women’s Shot Put Championship
Jessica Oji won the shot put with a distance of 18.15m. She achieved the win on her third throw. Her first throw of 17.01 would have been good enough to win the competition. Brooke Lumpkin of Virginia was second posting a distance of 16.23m.
College Women’s 4 x 100 College
The Explorers got a first place finish running a time of :47.01. Carleen Lionel, Adaugo Ilonze, Madonna Logan, and Jorden Gore ran for the Blue and Gold.
College Women’s Triple Jump Championship
While a Philly team athlete did not win the event it turned out to be a good competition between Adannia Agbo of Penn ad Inara Shell of Temple. Agbo finished second with a distance of 12.89m on her third jump. Shell was third with a result of 12.44m. Shantae Foreman of Clemson was the champion with a jumps of 13.21m.
