Saint Joseph’s Promotes John Griffin III to Associate Head Basketball Coach

John Griffin III was promoted to Associate Head Men’s Basketball coach. Head Coach Billy Lange made the announcement last week.

“We are proud to promote John to associate head coach,” Lange said. “We hired John with the confidence that he could assume this critical role to our infrastructure. Overall, our staff has an inherent energy, creativity and resilience, and John’s experience has helped guide, advise, and lead with a bold and servant attitude. His passion and respect for our University and program elevates his peers and our team members.”

Griffin is responsible for coordinating the on court player development program and overseeing the team’s defense. He also will be responsible for opponent scouting, game plan, and research projects. Griffin has involvement with recruiting, game scheduling,  and serves as a liaison with the department’s compliance, academics and sports performance staffs.

This will be the second season on Hawk Hill for Griffin, first as Associate Head Coach, who spent the previous four years at his alma mater Bucknell. Griffin started his coaching career at Rider to 2015. He began as the Director of Operations before being promoted to assistant coach. Prior to his stint at Rider Griffin was the Video Coordinator for the Indiana Pacers in the 2010-11 season, and played professionally in Europe.

His Father, John, served as the head coach at Saint Joseph’s from 1990-95.
