Steps Forward For the Temple Football Season

September 15, 2020 –

The 2020 football season for the Temple Owls took a step forward.

The City of Philadelphia has approved the plans and protocols put forth by the school. Restrictions on practices have been lifted, and the city also granted permission for Temple to play it’s games at the Linc.

The Owls need the practices to be able to play the scheduled games. In terms of preparation Coach Rod Carey said it is full steam ahead. The team had two practices under the updated rules, and were happy to be out on the field. Looking towards the future?

“Normal from here on out,” said Carey.

The game at Navy on October 10 appears to be a go. The next game on the schedule is October 24 at home against USF. Navy will have played three games when the Owls take the field. The scheduled home opener is against a team that will have played as many as five games. Carey sees the disadvantages, but it has an upside in terms of scouting.

“We’ll have a bunch of games on them this year, and they won’t have any on us from this year,” Carey said. “I’d rather have played, but we won’t. So, we’ll have info on them.”

The only variable is COVID-19.
