The American Postpones Soccer and Volleyball To Spring 2021

8/31/2020 –

Late last week the American Athletic Conference made the decision to postpone soccer, both men’s and women’s, and volleyball games to the Spring of 2021 aligning itself with the NCAA championship season calendar.

At this time local member of the conference Temple will field a football team this fall. A decision regarding cross country will be announced later after receiving more information from the NCAA. The Owls hoped to move forward with fall sports, but will not due to the league’s decision.

“We remain committed to providing our student-athletes a quality experience and competing at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics,” said American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco. “We were prepared to conduct competition in the fall in men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball, but moving to the spring was in the best interest of our student-athletes as it will align our schedules to allow our teams to compete for national championships.”

Further details will be revealed once they are available.
