The Fraud Five by Mike Kern – Week 6 Edition

October 11, 2026

Florida — Repeat offender. Two weeks ago Gators beat unbeaten Ole Miss by 24. Then they lost by 28 at Missouri. And now this: 38-19 loss at home to South Carolina. Their next two are at Texas and against Georgia in Atlanta. Yo.

Texas — No great sin to lose Red River skirmish to Oklahoma in Dallas. Except that the top-ranked Longhorns were favored by a little over a touchdown, since OU hasn’t been all that. But Sooners won 27-24. They scored a defensive TD and got another on special teams. It happens. Yet despite the rivalry it probably shouldn’t have.

Oregon — I know Ducks were still playing with backup quarterback at home against unbeaten but untested UCLA. But as a double-digit fave they lost 17-15. Seven turnovers can do that.

LSU — Was favored by nearly 10 at Kentucky, which in all fairness ain’t bad. Still, probably shouldn’t be losing on 2-point conversion in overtime. But nobody cries for Lane Kiffin.

Washington — Slight fave Friday night at home against No. 20 Iowa. Lost 41-24. Good thing Huskies scored late TD. It was 27-0 at one point.

Dishonorable Mention:

Toledo — Favored at home by nearly three TDs over visiting Buffalo. Lost 23-8. Good thing nobody cares. Just saying.

And Stanford lost 58-7 at Notre Dame, as nearly 40-point dogs. One week after losing 57-3 at Wake Forest. I know the Card stinks, but that’s still pretty brutal.
