Philly College Football Week in Review – September 15, 2019

Both the Temple Owls and the Villanova Wildcats are starting the season on a high note with each team undefeated.  Temple got a big win over the #21 Maryland Terrapins at home.

The Owls defense held the Terps thanks to three goal line stands, two in the last three plus minutes.  Shaun Bradley stopped Anthony McFarland in his tracks for a loss on a fourth down play to keep Maryland off the scoreboard.  Temple survived a 56-yard punt return and a short punt in hanging on for the win.  Maryland was held to 161 yards rushing, well under their average.

Villanova is having things come in threes.  The Wildcats won their third straight game; the defense scored for the third consecutive time when Jaquan Amos intercepted a pass and returned it 34-yards for a touchdown just 22 seconds into the game; quarterback Daniel Smith had three touchdown passes in three games, and Justin Covington rushed for 100-yards in all three times on the field.
