Temple’s Brandon McManus – Big East Specialist Of The Week

The Big East Conference has named Temple Senior Place Kicker and Punter Brandon McManus as its Specialist of the Week on Monday, September 3, 2012.  Also named to the Big East Honor Roll was Senior Safety Vaughn Carraway.

During Temple’s opening game victory over Villanova on August 31 McManus set a school record for field goals made with 48 after he converted two field goals from 24 and 31 yards.  He was a perfect five-for-five extra points which extended his consecutive straight to 55 makes.  In the game McManus kicked off eight times for 515 yards including 6 touchbacks (64.4 yards).  His four punts went for 177 yards (44.2 average).  Mc Manus is one of eight current players who handle all kicking duties for his team.  Now the all-time career punting leader at Temple with a 45.64 average (50 punts for 2,282 yards).

McManus is second in career scoring at the school with 275 points surpassing Paul Palmer with 264.  Bernard Pierce leads Temple in career scoring with 324 points.

This is the first Big was Honor is the first on McManus’ collegiate career.

Carraway finished the game against Villanova with an interception and returned it 57 yards for a touchdown.  It was the second career interception for Carraway.  He had three solo tackles and a fumble recovery, the first of his career.
