Saint Joseph’s Falls In NCAA Field Hockey Championships

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks played in their first ever NCAA Field Hockey Tournament game.  The result was not the desired one as the Hawks fell to the North Carolina Tar Heels 4 – 0 in Charlottesville in an opening round game.

North Carolina started strong getting a goal by Eva van’t Hoog at the nine minute mark.  It was two goals in 1:05 just before halftime by Gab Major that gave control of the game to UNC.

The Tar Heels outshot the Hawks 22 – 6, however both had 6 in the second half.  SJU goal keeper Victoria Kammerinke made 9 saves.  Quinn Maguire had two shots for the Hawks.

Saint Joe’s finishes the season with at 18 – 4, a program record for number of wins in a season.
