Yale Hands Penn a 35 – 13 Loss in New Haven
October 25, 2025 –
The University of Pennsylvania looked to go 1 – 0 this weekend, like every weekend, and remain unbeaten in the Ancient Eight. It did not happen as the Yale Bulldogs won 35 – 13. The Quakers had their three-game winning streak come to an end, and find themselves in a four-way for second place with a 2 – 1 record along with Yale, Dartmouth, and Princeton a game behind Harvard.
Second Quarter Tilted the Game to Yale
After one quarter the Red and Blue trailed 7 – 3. The Eli would score three more touchdowns in the second quarter to hold a 28 – 10 lead at halftime. The 21 points Penn allowed would tie a season-high in points allowed in a quarter.
The defense gave Yale a multi score lead when defensive back Abu Kamara picked up a fumble and returned it 63 yards for a touchdown with 13:44 on the clock. The Bulldogs followed that 47 seconds later with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Dante Reno to Jaxton Santiago for a 21 – 3 lead.
Penn did answer later in the quarter when Jared Richardson hauled in a 13-yard pass from Liam O’Brien. It was the the third consecutive game with a touchdown reception. Richardson now has 9 scoring catches this season which leads the Ivy League, and that number trails only Justin Watson who had 14 in 2017 for a program-best.
But it did not hold when Reno threw a 19-yard scoring toss to Nico Brown late in the second quarter for a 28 – 10 lead at intermission.
What the Numbers Say
Penn had 312 total yards of offense compared to 413 for Yale.
Josh Pitsenbeger ran for a game-high 145 yards and a touchdown. Reno threw for 211 yards and 3 scores. Brown caught 6 passes for 121 yards finding the endzone twice to lead the Eli.
For Penn Richardson caught 6 passes for 85 yards. Bisi Owens had 7 receptions for 65 yards. O’Brien went 21 – 39 for 220 yards. He added 45 yards on the ground.
John Lista led the Penn defense with 11 total tackles, a tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery. Inumidun Ayo-Durojaiye headed the Yale defense with 13 tackles while Billy Eastep added 10.
