June 13, 2025 –

Day Three means all finals for the men in the NCAA Track and Field Championships. The Villanova Wildcats scored 6 points due to the effort of Marco Langon who finished third in the Men’s 5000m. Showing his best in the biggest moment Langon set a personal-best running a time of 13:21.17 to match the best finish by a Villanovan in this event over the last 16 years. And he was named a First Team All-American.

Also competing on this day was the University of Pennsylvania high jumper Kampton Kam and he tied for 8th place in his event to give the Quakers a third of a point. The best day so far for the Big Five athletes.

Also running in the Men’s 5000m final was the New Mexico duo of Ishmael Kipkurui and Habtom Samuel who went 1-2 in the 10,000m, indoor champion Brian Musau of Oklahoma State, East Region champion Rocky Hansen from Wake Forest, and Villanova Wildcat Marco Langon.

In a very close, competitive contest Langon ran a great tactical race. He was in 7th to 10th place early, then moved up on the outside with 2 laps remaining. As the runners came around the last turn Langon took aim on Musau trying to reel him him. But Musau was able to hold him off. Then Samuel moved past Langon down the stretch. The Nova junior put everything into his run, falling to the track after crossing the finish line. The best splits were the last two as Langon ran 1:00.02, then the last segment at :56.06.

The winning time for Masau was a season-best 13:20.59. The Cowboy had a split of :55.77. Samuel placed second covering the distance in 13:20.89.

Kam was in the high jump and tied with LSU’s Kuda Chadenga and Eddie Kurjak of Georgia at 2.15m (7.5″), vaulting Kam to First Team All-American status. Arvesta Troupe from Ole Miss won with a personal-best jump of 2.27m. He cleared the bar by nearly 3 inches over the next two competitors; the Texas State pair of Kason O’Riley and Aiden Hayes.

The Quakers jumper cleared the bar on his first two jumps, but missed on his next three at 2.2m.

Texas A&M and USC shared the Men’s Championship scoring 41 points. Arkansas was a point behind.

The final day of competition will be the women’s finals.
