The Villanova Wildcats placed three runners in the NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track championship races at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR; Liam Murphy in the 1500m, Sean Dolan running the 800m, and Marco Langon participating in the 5000m title race.

Murphy started off the meet for the Wildcats. In the race Murphy started in the back of the pack. In the ensuing laps he went to the outside to get running room. The extra distance took its toll as Murphy faded in the end. He finished in 11th place running the distance in 3:42.90. The Nova runner ran splits of :46.84, 1:03.22, :57.36, and :55.49. Adam Spencer of Wisconsin was third crossing the finish line in 3:39.92.

Sean Dolan took to the starting line. He got caught in the pack, but stayed on the rail. In the final straightaway he got passed by Texas A&M Sam Whitmarsh. Dolan could not find the space to make a charge at the end. He finished in 5th place with a time of 1:45.89. Shane Cohen of Virginia held off Whitmarsh to claim the championship with a personal best time of 1:44.97 while Whitmarsh ran a 1:45.10. Dolan covered the initial 400m in :52.01, then ran a :53.88 second lap. Dolan’s effort scored 4 team points for Nova.

In the 500m final Marco Langon ran against 23 other runners in the even final. It was a tight pack most of the way around. Langon stayed on the rail, then looked to get outside, but never found a clear path. He finished 21st with a time 14:10.41. Parker Wolfe (North Carolina), Nico Young (Northern Arizona), and Ky Robinson (Stanford) pulled away at the end. Wolfe got to the front and won it in 13:54.93.
