Big Five Results at the NCAA East Regional Track & Field Meet – Day Two

The Women’s Events Take Featured

In Day Two the women took to the track and field in first round or semifinal round events. One Villanova runner advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR while one runner wearing the Red and Blue pinstripes will run for a spot on Saturday.

On to Oregon

Sadie Sigfstead of Villanova will run in the Women’s 10,000m as she finished 10th overall in the race with a time of 32.56.58. The top twelve finishers qualified for the run in Eugene. Her best split was 1:15.60 in the 5600m segment. The top overall qualifier from the East is Grace Hartman of NC State who ran a 32:32.80. Also in the competition was La Salle’s Helene Usher. She placed 38th covering the distance in 34:52.35.

Running in the Quarterfinals

In the Women’s 100m Fore Abinusawa of Penn qualified automatically for the quarterfinal round race. She finished third in heat four dashing to the finish line in 11.34. The top three runners in each heat plus the next 6 fastest times made up the 24 runner field.

Those Who Did Not Qualify

There are three other athletes who did not move on in their event.

In the Women’s 800m Villanova’s Elizabeth Martell was the closest as she missed an automatic qualification when she placed fourth in heat three. The top three in each heat plus the next 6 fastest times earned another race. She ran a 2:05.31 to place 30th. In that event Penn’s Chloe Hassman was 45th running a time of 2:10.80.

Olivia Allen from Villanova placed 46th in the Women’s 400m Hurdles. She covered the distance in 1:01.24. On the field Paris Ivery of Penn was 45th in the Women’s Long Jump with a distance of 5.55m.
