The Fraud Five by Mike Kern – Week 10 Edition

Mike Kern’s Fraud Five

Ole Miss — I love this team. And its quarterback. And I know Georgia can be Georgia. But … can’t lose 42-7 at home, even if it was a revenge game from last year’s playoff in the Sugar Bowl.

LSU — Holy Lane Kiffin. Favored to beat Alabama at home. Lost 31-13, as Tide scored last 21 points. Hey somebody has to miss the playoffs. Ask Ohio State.

Ohio State — At least the Buckeyes had lost their QB. But so had Oregon, which came east and won 41-28. Good thing Bucks scored the first 14. But Ducks got next 38. Ouch.  And OSU’s freshman threw for 360. Oh well.

Kentucky — The Wildcats weren’t favored to win at Tennessee. But neither were they supposed to lose 34-6. Just pointing out.

Texas-San Antonio— Favored by a touchdown at Florida Atlantic on Friday. Lost 60-29. FAU kicked a field goal with just under four minutes to go. Maybe you had to be there.

Dishonorable Mention:

Florida — Lost at home to Oklahoma , 23-7. Didn’t score in final 33 minutes. Swamp that. Sorry.

North Carolina State — I know the Pack just lost their coach. But still doesn’t excuse 41-3 loss to visiting Duke. This ain’t hoops. Gotta show a pulse I think. Especially at this stage of the season. Or maybe I’m just being too hard. It happens.

And finally, Michigan — This is for my good bud Eddie Bark. He will understand. Lost 15-6 at home to Michigan State, which had lost six straight and 13 in a row in the Big Ten. Wolves scored with 1:35 left. It was the third straight home game in which they failed to score in the first half. The last time they did that in a season home or away was 1979. Yo. The new coach maybe should have stayed retired. And his former team, Utah, is of course still unbeaten. Life can be a funny dog sometimes.

Welcome to the homestretch.
