Week Two Edition
September 13, 2026 –
Ohio State — For the longest time Saturday night this spot belonged to Texas, which was down 20 to the top-ranked Buckeyes at in the fourth quarter home as a slight favorite, the first time the Bucks had been underdogs since the 2023 Michigan game. But the Longhorns scored on three long touchdown drives, getting the game winner with 23 seconds left. It happens. It just doesnt happen too often to the Ryan Days, who missed a 45 yard field goal that could have clinched it. Oh well. I still think the Bucks could be right in the mix at the end, cause they are that loaded, even though the schedule is too. And they still did cover, which is really what counts to a lot of us. And you know who you are.
Oregon — A week after almost losing to Boise State at home, the Ducks were favored by 24 at Oklahoma State, which had opened with a 14-point loss at Tulsa. The Ducks only two losses the last two years were to national champions Ohio State and Indiana. Final was 39-31 Boys, who had lost 21 straight to FBS teams. Oregon was ranked sixth, after starting at No. 2.
Oklahoma — I hate to put a team here for losing 17-10 at Michigan, but did you see the Wolverines lose at home to Western Michigan the week before? Oops. Forgot. They actually won. I think. Anyway, Sooners were a 5-point fave. The line should have told us all we needed to know.
Washington — Again this is a departure for me. And my standards. But it was that kind of week. I was trying hard to come up with five. Huskies were favored by four TDs over a Utah State team that had just loss to FCS Idaho State at home. Huskies won 16-14. I usually don’t penalize anyone for that. But the lack of candidates forced me to.
Minnesota — This was a bit of a stretch too cause nobody cares about the Gophers, who were a slight fave against visiting Mississippi State. They lost 38-13. It was 28-3 in second quarter. So there. Besides I can do almost anything I want. It’s in the rulebook.
