Schedule Features Big Five, Ivy League, and a Home Game Against Kentucky
August 26, 2023 –
The University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball team has announced their schedule for the upcoming season. It will be a challenging slate of games, but Penn has historically played some of the best teams in the country.
“I am excited about our 2023-24 schedule,” said Penn Coach Steve Donahue. “We always love to give our guys a challenging non-conference schedule, and in Villanova, Kentucky, Houston, and Auburn we are facing four preseason Top 25 teams. Those games will prepare us for another competitive Ivy season.”
Games Against Ranked Teams
Penn will have a November 13 Big Five game at the Palestra against the Villanova Wildcats. The schedule features a December 9 game at the Wells Fargo Center against another Wildcats team, perennial power Kentucky, the second winningest team in college basketball. This game will be the second in a week span for the Quakers to be at the Wells Fargo Center. The team plays in the Big Five Classic the week before.
On the road the Red and Blue will face the Houston Cougars on December 30, then on January 2 the team will play the Auburn Tigers.
“We have to put our guys in a position to make memories,” Donahue said. “We are giving this group the chance to write an indelible chapter in Penn’s incredible men’s basketball history.”
Big Five Schedule
The Quakers face the Hawks of Saint Joseph’s at the Hagan Arena on November 10th. Villanova comes to the Palestra a few days later. The highlight of the city series, the Big 5 Classic, will be at the Wells Fargo Center on December 2nd.
