The American Announces Conference Pairings

The summer months move along. Enjoy the weather and fun times. And let the thoughts of college basketball come into the mindset. Accordingly, the American Athletic Association published its conference basketball pairings for the 2023-24 season. Let’s take a look at who the Owls draw, where, and how many times in the new look American.
Temple Men’s Basketball
Home Only games – UAB, Charlotte, Memphis, Tulsa
Away Only games – FAU, UNT, SMU, Tulane
Home and Away – ECU, Rice, USF, UTSA, Wichita State
Temple Women’s Basketball
Home Only games – FAU, Memphis, UNT, USF
Away Only games – UAB, ECU, Rice, SMU
Home and Away – Charlotte, UTSA, Tulane, Tulsa, Wichita State
There are 14 teams in the league with the additions of UAB, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic (FAU), North Texas (UNT), Rice, and UTSA. They will join previous members; East Carolina (ECU), Memphis, South Florida (USF), SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, and Wichita State.
The American will have two schools whose mascot is the Owls, Temple and FAU. The Florida Atlantic Owls are coming off a run to the Men’s Final Four.
UAB and North Texas played for the Men’s NIT Championship with UNT getting the victory. Charlotte won the Men’s CBI. Overall, six men’s teams participated in postseason and posted a 14 – 4 record.
In the women’s postseason there were six conference members who qualified. East Carolina and USF went to the NCAA. The South Florida Bulls won their first round game. Memphis, SMU, Tulane and Wichita State received NIT bids. Memphis went to the Super 16.
