May 24, 2021 –

Zach Michon will run for Saint Joseph’s in the NCAA Men’s Eastern Preliminary Outdoor meet in Florida. Michon qualified for the event by setting a school record in the 5000 meters with a time of 13:53.05 set at the Penn Challenge on March 27. His time ranks him 37th on the declared list.

The Hawks graduate student will participate in the Preliminary in Friday evening’s quarterfinal race. Michon comes into this event as the 5000 meters champion of the Atlantic 10 winning the conference meet with a time of 15:03.40. Michon also captured gold in the A10 1500 meters. He qualified for the meet in 2019 running in 1500 meters.

“I’m excited and happy for this opportunity,” said Michon. “I’m definitely going to try my best to put myself in a position to move on to the next level because you don’t lose anything from trying. I think making it out to Eugene would be a great way to finish off my career.”

The top 12 finishers in the race qualify for the national championship at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon scheduled for June 9 – 12.
