The Big East Conference announced today that fall sports will not be conducted this year. The league is looking into the possibility of playing those sports in the spring of next year.
The sports affected are; men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, and field hockey. Villanova competes in the Big East in those sports. Temple is a member in field hockey.
The decision was made after consultation with the Big East COVID-19 Task Force. The group is made up of administrators, doctors, athletic trainers, student-athletes, and national experts in pandemics and infectious diseases.
Plans for men’s and women’s basketball and other sports are unaffected as of now.
