La Salle University named Jamal Robinson as an assistant men’s basketball coach. The announcement came from head coach Ashley Howard. Robinson will join Kyle Griffin and Donnie Carr as an assistant on 20th and Olney. Over the past two years Robinson was an assistant at Hampton University.
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join the storied men’s basketball program at La Salle University,” Robinson said. “I’m ready to get back into the gym and work with our student-athletes.”
Robinson has experience as a player at the University of Virginia from 1993-97 averaging 16 points per game. He had a 13-year professional career last with the Miami Heat, the CBA, the Developmental League before going to Europe.
He was a skill instructor at various elite basketball camps including the Nike Pre-Draft camp where Robinson helped to develop high school, college, and professional basketball players.
“We are thrilled to add Jamal Robinson to our La Salle basketball family,” said Howard. “Jamal is well respected in basketball circles at the grassroots, college, and professional levels as one of the top skill development coaches in our industry. We are excited to have him work directly with our talented young group of Explorers.”
Returning to the team and expected to be contributors next season are; Ayinde Hikim, David Beatty, Jared Kimbrough, Scott Spencer, Christian Ray, and Sherif Kenney.
