Philly Men’s College Soccer Week in Review – November 4th Edition

The La Salle Explorers won this week and with that victory earned the #6 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.  La Salle will face #3 Dayton in the quarterfinal round on the road.  It will be their first berth in the post-season since 2016.

Penn moved into a tie for 3rd place in the Ivy League getting a 1 – 1 draw at Brown.  Playing extra time against the Bears is no stranger to the Quakers.  The teams have played into overtime the last four seasons.  Alex Touche tied the game for the Red and Blue in the 65th minute.

Temple continues their unbeaten streak getting a scoreless draw at Tulsa.  The streak stands at 5 in a row.

Villanova has another game to play, but will not be going to the post-season.  The Wildcats lost 2 – 0 to Georgetown, the regular season champions of the Big East.  It was the second time in two games that Nova has given up more than one goal in a home game.

The season came to an end for the Drexel Dragons and the Saint Joseph’s Hawks.  Drexel did get a 2 – 1 win over Lafayette in a non-conference game, but it was a 2 – 1 loss to Delaware that ended their CAA Tournament hopes.  The Blue Hens scored the winning goal in the 80th minute.  The Hawks dropped a 1 – 0 decision at UMass who scored early in the second half.

This week Temple hosts #12 SMU with their unbeaten streak on the line.  La Salle starts A10 Tournament play at Dayton.  Villanova goes to Seton Hall to end the regular season.
