Casey Comber Places 8th in Men’s 1500 Meter Run at NCAA Track & Field Championships

Villanova junior Casey Comber ran his second fastest time in the 1500 meters covering the distance in 3:42.77 to place 8th in the race. He was .23 seconds off his personal best of 3:42.54.

It was the highest finish for a Villanova runner in this event since 2015 when Jordy Williamsz took 5th place. Fellow Villanovan Sydney Maree still holds the meet record time of 3:35.30 set in 1981.

The championship went to Yared Nuguse of Notre Dame who won in a photo finish over Justine Kiprotich of Michigan State. Both runners were clocked at 3:41.39.

The championships finish on Saturday. In women’s finals Wildcat Caroline Alcorta competes in the 5000 Meters, and Sanaa Barnes is in the high jump. The University of Pennsylvania is represented in the 800 Meters final by Nia Akins, and Ashley Anumba throws in the Discus final.
