Saint Joseph’s Wins Their First Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship, Hawks and Dragons Prepare For Conference Tournaments

Summary – Drexel is the #2 seed in the CAA Tournament

LA SALLE 4 – 10 – 4 Overall, 2 – 4 – 4 Atlantic 10
Results – Won 4 – 0 vs. George Mason at McCarthy Stadium, Lost 2 – 1 (2 OT) at Duquesne
Summary – The Explorers registered their second shutout in a row in the season home finale against the Patriots. Deja Davis scored 2 goals, the first in the 13th minute. But that streak ended with a double overtime loss on the Bluffs as the Dukes scored in the 110th minute. Maci Bower got the La Salle goal.

PENN – 9 – 3 – 3 Overall, 2 – 2 – 2 Ivy League
Results – Tied 1 – 1 (2 OT) vs. Brown at Rhodes Field
Summary – A goal in the 69th minute by Allie Trzaska gave the University of Pennsylvania a come from behind tie in the Ivy League tilt against Brown. Goalie Kitty Qu made 8 saves for Penn. The Quakers are in fourth place in the Ancient Eight, 1-point ahead of Princeton and Yale.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 16 – 1 – 2 Overall, 9 – 0 – 1 Atlantic 10
Result – Won 2 – 1 at Massachusetts, Won 2 – 1 vs. St. Bonaventure at Sweeney Field
Summary – The Hawks captured the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship for the first time in program history. With that the Hawks earned the top-seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. SJU got a come-from-behind win at UMass on goals by Dakota Mills and Lauren Dimes. In the regular season ender Mills scored twice to set a new single-season record for goals (16) and points (37). Mills earned the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week award.

TEMPLE 3 – 16 – 0 Overall 0 – 9 – 0 American
Results – Lost 2 – 1 at ECU, Lost 2 – 1 at Cincinnati
Summary – The Owls dropped a pair of 2 – 1 decisions . Goal Keeper Jordan Nash recorded her 3rd career double-digit save performance with 15 in Carolina. Juliet Esposito scored her first career goal. Cincinnati put two goals on the board early that created a hill too steep to climb for Temple in their final game of the season.

VILLANOVA 4 – 14 – 0 Overall, 2 – 7 – 0 Big East
Results – Won 2 – 0 vs. Seton Hall at the Higgins Sports Complex
Summary – The seniors made a memory defeating Seton Hall on their day. Villanova had a 16 – 13 edge in shots. Sam DePinho and Kate Martin scored for the Cats. Goalie Emmalee Meyer made 9 saves in getting her 5th career shutout.
