Kelly Farrell Scores 4 Goals In Temple’s City Sweep, Villanova Gets First Win Of The Season
Games Week of September 15 – 22, 2015
DREXEL 6 – 3 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 CAA
Results – Lost 3 – 2 at Syracuse
Summary – The Dragons traveled to upstate New York but fell 3 – 2 at Syracuse. Drexel got goals from Vanessa Kara and Madison Dunn who found the back of the net with 8 minutes to play. CAA action is next up for the Dragons.
Next Game – 9/25 at UNCW
LA SALLE 3 – 4 – 2 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Atlantic 10
Results – Lost 4 – 1 at Princeton, Lost 3 – 0 at Temple
Summary – The Explorers dropped back to back contests during the week. La Salle could only muster an own-goal in the loss at Princeton, then were shutout in their city battle at Temple. The Explorers start Atlantic 10 play at UMass.
Next Game – 10/1 at Massachusetts
PENN – 4 – 1 – 2 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Ivy League
Results – Tied 1 – 1 (2OT) vs. VCU at Rhodes Field, Tied 0 – 0 (2OT) at Towson
Summary – The Red and Blue played an extra 40 minutes during the week posting back to back double overtime ties. Penn outshot their opponents, but could not get the winning score. Shannon Hennessey scored the Quaker goal of the week. Penn will start the Ivy League portion of their schedule in Boston against Harvard.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 5 –3 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Atlantic 10
Result – Won 2 – 0 vs. Delaware at Sweeney Field, Lost 3 – 1 at Temple
Summary – Dakota Mills scored both goals in the win against Delaware, and Allison Ebling got her 4th win of the season posting her first shutout this year. But, the Hawks would get but one score by Hannah Racis at Temple. Her goal tied the game, but the Hawks would gave up the next two.
Next Game – 9/25 vs. LIU Brooklyn at Sweeney Field
TEMPLE 8 – 2 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 AAC
Results – Won 3 – 0 vs. La Salle, Won 3 – 1 vs. Saint Joseph’s at the Amber Sports Complex
Summary – The Owls won two city contests during the week and scored 3 goals in each victory. Kelly Farrell had all 3 goals in the Saint Joe’s game, 2 on the second half after the Hawks tied the game at one early after halftime. The hat trick was the first for Farrell in her career, and her 11 goals this season places her in second place in Temple scoring history. These games are the final non-conference games for the Cherry and White.

VILLANOVA 1 – 8 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 Big East
Results – Won 2 – 0 at Denver, Lost 3 – 0 at Colorado
Summary – The Wildcats split their two game trip to Colorado. Villanova got goals from Reanna Marino and Amanda Vocelka to get their first win of the season. It was the initial meeting between Villanova and Denver in women’s soccer. However, Nova could not find the back off the net against the Buffaloes. The Wildcats travel to Indianapolis to face Butler in their Big East opener.
