Week of September 8 – 15, 2015 Games

Drexel Off To Best Start in 3 Seasons, Temple Explodes On Offense Behind 3 Goals By Kelly Farrell, La Salle Sweeps Road Trip

DREXEL 6 – 2 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 CAA

Results – Won 1 – 0 vs. VCU, Won 2 – 1 vs. Niagara both at Vidas Field

Summary – The Dragons swept the weekend set.  The shutout over VCU was the third this season.  Vanessa Kara scored 2 goals over the week.  Both goal keepers Eve Badana and Kelsie Fye saw action.  The 6 – 2 start is the best start for Drexel since the 2012 season.

Next Game – 9/17 at Syracuse

LA SALLE 3 – 2 – 2 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Atlantic 10

Results – Won 2 – 0 at Navy, Won 2 – 1 at James Madison

Summary – The Explorers brought home two wins from their road trip.  The victory against James Madison was a come from behind win as La Salle scored twice in the second half.  Fia Jonsson had 2 goals and an assist during the week.

Next Game – 9/16 at Princeton

PENN – 4 – 1 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Ivy League

ResultsLost 2 – 1 at #11 Clemson. Won 1 – 0 at USC Upstate

Summary – The Red and Blue came away with a split from their trip to the Palmetto state.  Penn got goals from Paige Lombard and Maddie Dawkins.  The loss to nationally ranked Clemson was the first of the year for the Quakers.

Next Game – 9/18 vs. VCU at Rhodes Field

SAINT JOSEPH’S 4 –2 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Atlantic 10

Result – Won 2 – 1 at Seton Hall, Lost 3 – 2 at Lehigh

Summary – The road trip yielded a win and a loss.  Emily Gingrich scored two goals over the week.  Goal Keeper Allison Ebling made 3 saves against Seton Hall and improved her season record to 3 – 0 – 0.

Next Game – 9/18 vs. Delaware at Sweeney Field

TEMPLE 6 – 2 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 – 0 Atlantic 10

Results – Won 4 – 0 at New Hampshire, Won 4 – 1 vs. Binghamton at the Amber Sports Complex

Summary – The Owls bounced back ending a 2 game losing streak.  The Cherry and White put up 39 shots during the week.  The offense was led by Kelly Farrell who registered three goals and an assist while Sarah McGlinn and Erin Lafferty each had two goals and an assist.

Next Game – 9/18 vs. La Salle at the Ambler Sports Complex

VILLANOVA 0 – 7 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 Big East

Results – Lost 1 – 0 vs. Yale, Lost 3 – 1 vs. Princeton at the Higgins Soccer Complex

Summary – The Wildcats played their first home games of the season, but fell to their Ivy League visitors.  Princeton broke away early scoring three first half goals.  Emily Kuefler scored the only Villanova goal during the weekend contests.

Next Game – 9/18 at Denver
