Dunphy was selected as the led a turnaround season for the Owls, who finished 22-9 overall and 13-5 in conference play. Temple was 9-22 last season.
The Owls recorded a significant win against then-No. 10 Kansas, marking the sixth win over a Top 10 team over the last seven seasons. It is also the eighth straight season the Cherry and White defeated a nationally ranked opponent.
“I am humbled by this honor as there are so many coaches deserving of this award in our conference,” Dunphy said. “While this may read Coach of the Year, it is truly a team award. I would like to recognize our staff for all the hard work throughout the season, and our players for their hard work this season.”
Temple, the fourth-seed in the conference tournament, opens play against fifth-seed Memphis (18-13) Friday.
