August 25, 2026 –
It is a long time tradition for Temple Football that started back when Al Golden coached the team. The toughest players would be rewarded by being given a single-digit jersey number. A player would have to show dedication, leadership, and toughness on and off the field to get a TEMPLE TUFF Single Digit to wear. These student athletes are leaders and show up with a championship mindset every day.
Coach K.C. Keeler announced that seven players have been awarded by being given a single-digit. Two players have retained their single-digit status and five more have joined the fraternity.
The returning single-digits are;
#1 Colin Chase – Wide Receiver
He is a second year player and is a leader of the wide receiver corps and on the team. He caught 40 passes last season for 414 yards and 4 touchdowns. Chase ran the ball 12 times gaining 69 yards.
#7 Dante Atton – Punter
The first ever specialist to be given a single-digit jersey. Atton is on the Ray Guy Award Watch List, an award given to the best punter in college football. Atton punted 62 times for 2,615 yards.
#8 Eric Stuart – Linebacker
Stuart had a comeback year in 2025 after suffering an injury the 2024 campaign. He recorded 44 tackles in being acknowledged as the team comeback player of the year.
#0 Peter Clarke – Tight End
Clarke began his football career at the NFL Academy in London. Last season he led the team with 6 touchdown receptions. Overall Clarke caught 30 passes for 483 yards. The London born player comes into the season on the Preseason All-Conference First Team, and is two touchdown receptions shy of tying the program record for most touchdown receptions by a tight end.
#6 Grayson Mains – Offensive Lineman
Mains will wear his single-digit in practice as NCAA rules prohibit an offensive lineman to wear a single-digit in games. Mains will wear #57 in games. He is the first offensive lineman to be selected since the 2022 season.
#5 Sam Brown V – Running Back
Brown V has made an impression since arriving at Temple from Rutgers during practices. He ran for 800 yards and 8 touchdowns in his time in the Big Ten. Brown V is a graduate of La Salle College High School in Philadelphia.
#2 Saboor Karriem – Safety
Karriem came to Temple from Illinois. He registered a career-high 22 total tackles in 2025.
Temple opens the season on September 5 hosting Rhode Island on the Lincoln Financial Field.
