But you all know what’s coming. Because who really saw this coming. Probably not even UCLA.
Penn State — Coming off that double overtime home loss you expected maybe a letdown. But not this. Holy BYU-Texas El Paso. And BYU was the defending national champion back then.
Penn State — Nittany Lions became the first seventh-ranked team in 40 years to lose to a team that had been winless.
Penn State — UCLA had scored 57 points in its first four games. The Bruins put up 42 Saturday.
Penn State — The Bruins, who fired their coach two weeks back, hadn’t led all season. They never trailed in this one.
Penn State — But look at the positive side. At least they didn’t lose to another Top whatever opponent. Once again. The hadn’t lost back to back games in a long time. They play at Ohio state the first weekend in November and get Indiana at home the following week. See you then. If nothing else there will be opportunities to change the same old narrative. Now that would be a better kind of ownership.
Dishonorable Mentions
I’m sure I could have come up with a few although in some cases I would have been maybe stretching things at least a bit. Like Texas, for instance. I mean Florida had lost three straight and was still only a touchdown underdog at home. So … Nits were laying 24 for whatever that’s worth. Given that I just didn’t have the energy to search much more. Sorry. Sue me. I take full responsibility and will try to do better/harder. And by the way Temple is 5-0 against the spread for those of you out there who care about such stuff. And you know who you are. Go Phils. Now that was hard to take.
