The Dragons Have Five Home and Home League Foes

August 16, 2023 –

The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) has announced conference opponents for the upcoming season. Drexel is slated to play home and home games against Delaware, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, UNCW, and Stony Brook.

Coming to the DAC will be Campbell, Hampton, Hofstra, and Northeastern. Drexel will have road contests at Charleston, Elon, Towson, and William & Mary.

There will be 18 league games played on a Friday / Sunday schedule.

The Dragons finished last season with a 21 – 10 record, 13 – 5 in conference. They got the second seed in the league tournament, but fell to Monmouth in the first round. Drexel did get a postseason bid to play in the WNIT. However, the team’s season ended in the first round with a loss at Fordham.

Coach Amy Mallon will have Hetta Saatman, Grace O’Neill, Jasmine Valentine, and Chloe Hodges returning along with others. The team will need to overcome the losses of Keishana Washington and Maura Hendrixson. A step in that positive direction comes with the addition of Brooke Mullin from Villanova University.

Amaris Baker transferred in from Harcum where she led NJCAA Division II in points per game with 27.0 and total points with 919. The guard will come in as a junior. She is a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School. Erin Doherty joins the team as a graduate student. Doherty comes in from four years at Catholic University where she led the team in scoring at 12.4 points per game. The guard is a graduate of Haverford High School.

Other freshman newcomers are Clara Bergeron from Montreal, and Laine McGurk of West Chester.

The full season schedule has yet to be announced.
