Saint Joseph’s Remains Unbeaten in NEC Men’s Lacrosse

April 10, 2021 –

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks continues its undefeated streak in the Northeast Conference men’s lacrosse. Junior attackman Levi Anderson put the ball into the net unassisted at 2:32 into the overtime period to propel the Hawks to a 13 – 12 road win over Hobart. Saint Joe’s extends their record to 5 – 0 in the NEC.

An overtime game with Hobart is becoming the rule rather than the exception. Six of the last eight games have been decided by one goal and five of them are overtime decisions.

Hobert held an 11 – 7 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Hawks stormed back winning the fourth quarter 5 – 1. SJU netted the first three goals of the stanza to pull to within a goal with Anderson, Evan Campbell, and Zach Cole getting scores. Bradley Simas answered for Hobart, then Matt Bohmer got the next two to tie the game 4:24 to play in regulation.

“I told the guys all week to prepare for a one-goal game in the fourth quarter, and their ability to claw back in from down five showed incredible grit and toughness,” said Saint Joseph’s Coach Taylor Wray. “This was a character-builder for sure.”

Bohmer and Anderson posted a team-high 3 goals, and Campbell assisted thrice.

Saint Joseph’s outshot Hobart 28 – 22 getting an 8 – 2 edge in the fourth quarter. The Hawks got the only two shots in the extra period. Goal Keeper Tucker Almany made 10 saves getting the win.

Saint Joe’s has two more regular season games on the schedule against third place Bryant and second place LIU.
