Villanova Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff Finalized

Villanova women’s basketball coach Denise Dillon’s coaching staff was announced. In a release on Friday Dillon retained assistant Joe Mulaney, his 25th year as Associate Head Coach, and Mimi Riley as Director of Basketball Operations.

There will be two newcomers on the main line as Michelle Baker and Mary Wooley join the staff.

Baker was an assistant coach under Dillon at Drexel for the past six seasons. She helped Drexel to; five 20-win seasons, five WNIT berths, three CAA title games, and a CAA Regular season championship. Her role is to assist with on-court coaching duties, film breakdown of Wildcats players and opponents, and will be a road recruiter. Baker played collegiate basketball at Saint Joseph’s setting the school record for most games played with 127. She was named to the 2012 All-Big Five First Team.

Wooley comes to Villanova after three years at the University of South Carolina as the Director of Recruiting Operations and Administration under Dawn Staley. She will oversee the national recruiting effort and assist with on-court coaching.

During the time at South Carolina Wooley helped the team to win two SEC Tournament Championships, a regular season title, two Sweet 16 appearances and one in the Elite Eight in 2018. She played a large role in South Carolina’s getting the top recruiting class in 2019.

Wooley has a local connection starting her career at Temple from 2003-09 where she rose to the Director of Operations position. From there Wooley went to Loyola of Maryland serving as an assistant coach before returning to USC, her alma mater.
