Feyonda Fitzgerald – Temple – Fitzgerald scored a career-high 32 points to lead Temple to a 97-91 win over Florida. The junior guard made 11 of 20 field goal attempts. She added five assists and three steals which were also a team-best. Fitzgerald was perfect from the free throw line making all 8 attempts.

LA SALLE 0 – 1 Overall, 0 – 0 Atlantic 10
Results – Lost 62 – 59 at Fairfield
Summary – The Explorers made a furious comeback trailing by as many as 20 points. They got to within a possession, but a three-point attempt by Amy Griffin fell short with a tenth of a second on the clock. Griffin scored 13 points, all in the second half. Micahya Owens posted a game-high 20 points.

PENN 1 – 1 Overall, 0 – 0 Ivy League
Results – Lost 57 – 50 vs. #14/12 Duke at the Palestra, Won 81 – 46 at UMBC
Summary – The University of Pennsylvania had a lead late in the game looking for the first win over a Top 25 opponent. Penn held a 6-point lead with 6:55 to play, but Duke would go on a 14 – 0 run to get the victory. The Quakers came back two days later to easily defeat UMBC. Defensively, the Red and Blue held the Retrievers to 30.8% shooting. Michelle Nwokedi scored a career-high 23 points in Maryland posting her 9th career double-double.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 0 – 1 Overall, 0 – 0 Atlantic 10
Results – Lost 78 – 65 vs. Rutgers at the Hagan Arena
Summary – The Hawks led 56 – 53 with just over a minute left in the third quarter, but the Scarlet Knights ended the quarter with a 6 – 0 run to take the lead. In the 4th quarter Rutgers scored the first 6 points capping a 12 – 0 run to take control. Ciara Andrews had a team-high 14 points. Amanda Fioravanti posted a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double in her SJU debut.

TEMPLE 1 – 0 Overall, 0 – 0 AAC
Results – Won 97 – 91 vs. Florida at the Liacouris Center
Summary – The Owls had three players score 20 or more points led by Feyonda Fitzgerald who posted a career-high 32 points. She added 5 assists and 3 steals. Tanaya Atkinson and Alliya Butts each scored 20 points. Temple took control behind a 16 – 0 run in the second quarter. In the 4th quarter the Owls withstood a Florida charge who cut the deficit to 92 – 89 in the last minute of the game.

VILLANOVA 1 – 1 Overall, 0 – 0 Big East
Results – Lost 70 – 64 N.C. State, Won 67 – 55 vs. Loyola, MD at The Pavilion
Summary – The Wildcats came back to tie the Wolfpack with 2:04 left after being down by 19 points, but fell short. Caroline Coyer scored 24 points, a game-best, and added 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Villanova bounced back winning their home opener over Loyola behind Megan Quinn who posted a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. For the season Coyer has 12 assists and no turnovers.

DREXEL 1 – 1 Overall, 0 – 0 CAA
Results – Won 69 – 53 vs. Dartmouth at the DAC in Preseason WNIT, Lost 73 – 58 at #20/19 USF in Preseason WNIT
Summary – The Dragons split the first two games of the Preseason WNIT. Drexel was led by all-conference players Rachel Pearson, who scored 21 and 15 points, and Sarah Curran who had 20 and 15. The Dragons faced a ranked opponent for the first time in nearly two years meeting the Bulls. Drexel played competitively against USF getting to within 62 – 58 with 6:59 to play, but would score no more.
