The PhillyCollegeSports.com has announced the All-Philly Division I Women’s Basketball Team for the 2014-15 season. The winners and teams are listed below.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Natasha Cloud of Saint Joseph’s University – The senior from Broomall, PA ranks 11th in the nation in assists with 6.6 per game. Cloud was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List as a finalist. She was also selected to the Naismith Trophy Watch List. The Hawk guard averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds per contest. She led the team in steals with 53 this season and in minutes played at 1,126. Cloud was the top scorer in points in 11 games and was the top rebounder six times for the Hawks. The senior guard caps her career ranked third in Saint Joseph’s history in assists with 582 and ninth in steals with 174.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike McLaughlin of the University of Pennsylvania – This season McLaughlin led the program to its first-ever Big Five title. The team matched school record with ten non-conference wins and won twenty games for the second consecutive season. This was the third consecutive year that the Quakers have appeared in post-season play under McLaughlin. The Red and Blue was the automatic qualifier for the Ivy League in the WNIT finishing second to undefeated and nationally ranked Princeton.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Alliya Butts of Temple University – The freshman guard for the Owls led the team in scoring, steals, and three-point baskets. The Edgewater Park, NJ native averaged over 12 points per game for the Cherry and White and has 68 steals and 63 from beyond the arc this season. She connected on 82% of her free throws. Butts handed out 69 assists which has third on the team.
