VILLANOVA, PA. 5/15/2014 – Rakim Cox, former Villanova defensive end has signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
Last season the four-year starter, played in 11 games. Cox made 30 tackles, a team-high nine sacks, a team-best 11.5 tackles for loss. He blocked kicks and a forced fumble. He ranked tied for 12th in the nation in sacks per game. For his efforts last season, Cox earned first team All-CAA honors for the second straight year.
Cox finished his career having played in 48 games for the Wildcats. For his career Rakim’s total statistics included 18 sacks and a total of 33.5 tackles for loss. Cox also registered 105 career tackles, broke up 16 passes and had four forced fumbles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and four blocked kicks.
He joins five other Villanova football players who are on NFL rosters.
