Roberts helped Saint Joseph’s to a come from behind victory over Boston University.  Roberts scored 19 points shooting 7 – 14 from the field.  The senior forward also contributed 8 rebounds for the Hawks.

LA SALLE 6 – 6 Overall 0 – 1 Big Five

Results – Idle

Summary –

Next Game – 1/4/2014 at Penn

PENN 2 – 8 Overall 0 – 2 Big Five

Result – Lost 89 – 88 at Rider

Summary –

Rider 89 Penn 88 – The Red and Blue held an 80 – 67 lead with 6:51 to play.  The Quakers scored 44 points to that time on the second half.   Penn would go 2 – 7 for the remainder of the game.  Rider took advantage holding Penn scoreless over the last 3:08.  Anthony Miles capped the comeback for the Broncs hitting a three-pointer with 26.1 seconds on the clock.  It was the 12th basket from beyond the arc for Rider.  Julian Harrell led all scorers with 23 points shooting 8 – 10 and was perfect on all three from distance.  Miles Jackson-Cartwright scored 20 points and handed out 9 assists which tied his career-high.  He also led Penn in rebounds with 6.  Daniel Stewart led Rider with 18 points, Miles had 16 points in the contest.

#8/10 VILLANOVA 11 – 1 Overall 3 – 0 Big Five

Results – Lost 78 – 62 at Syracuse

Summary –

#2 Syracuse 78 #8/10 Villanova 62 – The Wildcats started strong making three-pointers taking a 25 – 7 lead.  Syracuse answered by scoring the next 20 points to take the lead.  At halftime the Orange led 38 – 34.  In the second half a 10 – 0 run by Syracuse a 47 – 37 with 16:29 to play.  Villanova got back to within 3 at 53 – 50, but could not get consistent offense against the Syracuse zone defense.  The Orange went 20 – 24 from the free throw line in the second half to stay in front.  James Bell led all scorers with 25 points which tied a career-high.  Trevor Cooney led Syracuse with 21 points.

Next Game – 12/31 at Butler, 1/5/2014 vs. Providence at the Pavilion

DREXEL 8 – 4 Overall

Results – Lost 55 – 52 vs. Buffalo at the DAC

Summary –

Buffalo 55 Drexel 52 – The Dragons held a four-point halftime lead.  It would not hold as Buffalo went on a 12 – 3 run to take a 49 – 44 lead with 4:55 to play.  The Dragons fought back on a Tavon Allen jumper to pull to within 53 – 50 at the 1:53 mark.  Drexel had a chance to tie but a three-pointer by Frantz Massenat with 4 seconds left did not fall.  Allen led the Dragons with 14 points, and Chris Fouch added 13.  Massenat added 10 points.  As a team Drexel was 1 – 14 from the three-point line.
