Villanova In The Snow

VILLANOVA – Overall 1 – 8, 0 – 6 CAA

Result – Lost 41 – 25 vs. # 8 Maine at Villanova Stadium

Summary – Villanova suffered its fifth consecutive loss against a nationally ranked opponent on a snowy, windy day on the Main Line.  The Wildcats gave up big play strikes on defense as Maine scored three touchdowns of 33, 80, and 29 yards.  Villanova did put up some offensive numbers gaining 405 total yards.  Freshman Running Back Austin Medley gained 100 yards rushing, the first of his career, and the first 100 yard game by a Villanova running back this season. Medley recorded a touchdown.   Freshman Quarterback Chris Polony threw 3 touchdown passes in the second half.  The first was a 60 yard strike to Junior Wide Receiver Dorian Wells, and two to Senior Wide Receiver Mikey Reynolds.  The
25 points scored by Villanova was a season high.

Penn and Brown In The Rain

PENN – Overall 4 – 3, Ivy League 3 – 1

Result – Lost 6 – 0 at Brown

Summary – In a driving rain storm the University of Pennsylvania’s 18-game Ivy League win streak came to an end at Brown.  It was first league loss for Penn since November 15, 2008.  The streak was the second longest in league history.  Penn was shut out for the first time since 1997.
Brown recorded 2 field goals for the only points scored in the game.  The Quakers got the ball at the Brown 47 yard line with 2:29 to play.
The Red and Blue were in position to get a third game-winning fourth quarter drive.  This time Junior Quarterback Billy Ragone was intercepted on the first play.  Junior Running Back Brandon Colavita gained 69 yards on the ground.  Ragone was 6 – 15 gaining 39 passing yards.

Next Game – November 5 vs. Princeton at Franklin Field

 

TEMPLE – Overall 5 – 4, MAC 3 – 3

Result – Lost to Ohio U. 35 – 31 at Ohio University

Summary –  Ohio U. got a touchdown ith 1:41 left to get a 35 – 31 win over Temple, and took over first place in the MAC Eastern Division.  Temple Quarterback Cody Coyer ran for 184 yards,  and completed 8 of 14 passes for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Evan Rodriguez, Rod Streater, and Deon Miller caught scoring passes from Coyer.  Running Back Bernard Pierce had a 20 yard touchdown run.  Pierce left the game in the fourth quarter due to injury.  He did not return with the team as he was kept overnight for observation in the hospital.
