Winless Wednesday for Locals in Conference Tournaments

La Salle Men and Temple Men and Women Eliminated

March 11, 2026 –

Lots of basketball taking place in the Atlantic 10 and American Conference tournaments for our Big Five schools. Not a successful day as La Salle is eliminated in the A10 men’s tournament in Pittsburgh, while in Birmingham both the Temple men’s and women’s team fell. Let’s take a look at the details.

#13 St. Bonaventure 99 #12 La Salle 80

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies took the lead with 13:14 remaining in the first half. The Bonnies never trailed again.

Rob Dockery led the Explorers with a career-high 33 points and took down 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He has scored 20 or more points over his last 3 games. Dockery made half of his 22 shots and was a perfect 11 of 11 from the free throw line. Ashton Walker added 15 points and a game-best 6 assists. His pairing with Dockery was the most potent offensive weapon for the Explorers.

“For me, him (Rob Dockery) going off is a good thing,” said Walker. “Keep feeding him, feeding
him, feeding him, if he’s making the right plays, and just keep going with it. If he’s knocking down shots, then I’m right behind him making sure he’s getting shots. But for me, it makes me want to get my teammates more involved and get them more going.”

Walker came into the game leading the Atlantic 10 freshman in minutes played, assists, assists per game, and assist-to-turnover ratio.had

Truth Harris scored 11 for La Salle.

St. Bonaventure had all five starters score in double figures led by Darryl Simmons who had 21 points. Frank Mitchell added 18 points while Cayden Charles and Dasonte Bowen contributed 16 each. Daniel Egbuniwe scored 13 points. A balanced scoring effort.

St. Bonaventure won the battle of the boards 41 – 30. Mitchell had 9 boards to lead his team. The Bonnies assisted 24 times on 38 baskets with Bowen handing out a game-high 9. Bonnies shot consistently making 56.7% and were 13 of 24 from distance. The Explorers were good on 43.1% from the floor.

#7 Florida Atlantic 63 #10 Temple 59

The Philly Owls lost to the Florida Owls.

Temple made a furious comeback at the end, but could not quite come all the way back in a 63 – 59 loss to FAU in the first round of the American Men’s Tournament. Temple had a chance to tie the game late. Guard Derrian Ford took the ball to the basket but was stripped. The ball went off his leg and out of bounds with 4 seconds to play. FAU went to the foul line for the final points.

“Tried to get downhill to make something happen,” Ford said about that final Temple possession. “Lost the ball. That was it.”

This was a one-on-one game as there was a total of 11 assists, 7 by FAU and 4 by Temple.

FAU shot 50% making 25 of 50 while Temple made 23 of 60 (38.3%). The Cherry and White lost the battle of the boards 37 – 28.

Ford led Temple with16 points while Aiden Tobiason added 12 points. Jordan Mason reached double-digits getting 10 points. Jamal Felt pulled down a game-high 7 rebounds.

#6 UTSA 59 #7 Temple 51

The Temple Owls were leading at halftime 26 – 25, but the UTSA Roadrunners took control in the 3rd quarter winning those 10 minutes 21 – 9 en route to the second round victory. It was the first game this season that UTSA won when trailing at intermission.

I also think our that energy was just not there,” said Owls forward Jalessa Molina. “It wasn’t there in the third quarter. We just needed that. It wasn’t there”

The Owls forced 23 turnovers, but could not make the Roadrunners pay for their mistakes having only a 15 – 12 edge in points off turnovers, UTSA balances it back winning the rebounds 44 – 27. The Roadrunners had a 12 – 4 edge in second chance points, equal to the margin of victory.

The Cherry and White had three players score in double figures with Molina and Tristen Taylor getting 12 each. Kaylah scored 11 points. Taylor led the team in assists dishing four. The team shot 32.2% from the floor and only made 4 of 16 three-pointers. UTSA made only 2 from distance, but were good on 42.6% overall.

UTSA had three double-digit scores led by Ereauna Hardaway with a game-high 17 points. Cheyanne Rowe had 13 points. Idara Udo recorded a double-double getting 12 rebounds and 11 points.
