Temple Bounces Back With A Big Win Over Tulane

The Owls End a Losing Streak Beating the Green Wave of Tulane 89 – 60

PHILADELPHIA, PA. 3/5/2026 –

A six-game losing streak is in the rear view window for the Temple Owls men’s basketball team. The skid ended with a blowout win over the Tulane Green Wave 89 – 60 at the Liacouras Center. The Cherry and White avenged a previous loss to Tulane in the final home game of the season.

“It’s been a long however many days. The first day it went downhill was at Tulane,” said Temple Coach Adam Fisher. “So to come back and respond, it shows the resiliency of this team. We’ve seen a lot of adversity on and off the court this season, and I thought the guys were tremendous. The players really stepped up and to come out with a great win in our last home game feels good.”

The victory also solidified Temple making the American Conference Tournament. But best of all the team can enjoy the reward of a win.

“We’re in a result driven business, so it feels good to get a win,” Fisher said.

The 29 point win it was the largest margin of victory in a home conference game since Temple beat South Florida 75-47 on March 6, 2022 which was also the curtain closer for the 2021-22 season.

The Second Half Is When It Happened

At halftime the Owls held a 40 – 32 lead behind a 13 – 2 run to halftime. In the second half Temple stormed out with a 10 – 0 run to take control of the game. Tulane missed 5 shots in that run. The edge would expand to 34 points with just over 5 minutes to play on a three-point play by Jordan Mason.

“We get to a certain part of the practice, one of us call our second half,” said Owls guard Derrian Ford about how Temple came out in the second half. “We just preached that a lot this week, and I feel it just translated to the game, and it worked.”

The Owls played balanced basketball on both ends of the floor in the latter twenty minutes. On offense the team shot 60.7% (17 of 28) and made 8 of 15 (53.3%) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile the defense held the Green Wave to 9 of 28 shooting (32.1%) and only 2 three-pointers on 12 attempts.

Temple won the second half 49 – 28.

What the Numbers Say

Temple outrebounded Tulane by a wide margin 41 – 23 and the Cherry and White gave up a mere 4 offensive rebounds. Also the Owls made 13 of 26 three-point baskets and gave up 6 of 22.

Aiden Tobiason led Temple in scoring with 21 points and pulled down a game-high 7 rebounds, one shy of his career-best. He has averaged 19.5 points per game over the past four games. Four other Owls scored in double figures. Ford contributed 16 points while Mason and Gavin Griffiths added 15 points. Babatunde Durodola scored 10 points. Ford and Griffiths each handed out a team-best 5 assists which tied their collegiate-best.

For Tulane Rowan Brumbaugh filled the stat sheet with team-leading 14 points and 7 assists. Scottie Middleton scored 12 points.

Temple ends the campaign at Tulsa. With the win amd the loss by Memphis at South Florida, the Owls clinched a berth in the American postseason tournament.

“It’s just focused on us,” Fisher said about the conference tournament. “We can control our own destiny with the way it was set up, and that’s been our only focus.”
