The Fraud Five by Mike Kern – Week 14 in College Football

November 30, 2025 –

Might be last one. Not too many games next week but we’ll wait and see. Hey you never know. Maybe just a fraud two or three.

Tennessee — I know Vanderbilt was ranked a little higher. But Vols were home. So 45-24 seems like a bit much. Maybe it’s me.  I can be that way.

SMU — Cal ain’t bad. And was at home. But Ponies had a slim chance to get into ACC final. And maybe get back to the playoffs. Instead they lost 38-35. It happens. But it shouldn’t.

Arizona State —  Sun Devils were home and ranked slightly higher. Lost to Arizona 23-7. When they still had a remote shot to get back to Big 12 title game as the defending champ.

Kentucky — I know Cats aren’t whatever. But Louisville had lost three straight. Didn’t matter. Final was 41-0. Cards largest win in series. And for first time since 2012-13 they’ve beaten  UK in both basketball and foots.

Nebraska — Hasn’t been the same since it lost its quarterback and Matt Rhule got an extension. Lost at home to Iowa 40-16. Iowa scored last 23 points.

Dishonorable Mention:

Florida State — Needed a win to go bowling. Lost at 3-win Florida 40-21. But unlike Florida its coach is staying.

Pitt — It’s ok to lose to Miami. Even at home. But you had something to play for too. So 38-7 isnt’t cutting it. Sorry. I’m a stickler.

And finally North Carolina — Cause I can. Heels lost 42-19 at N.C. State. Their third straight loss to an in-state opponent. Probably not what coach Bill had in mind to cap off his Chapel Hill debut.
