The Fraud Five by Mike Kern – Week 10 in College Football

November 2, 2025 –

Miami — Second time in three weeks. Feels like a repeat from last year. This time it wss at SMU, which ain’t bad. But Canes were favored by 12. Didn’t matter. At least it went to overtime.

Georgia Tech — You shouldn’t be unbeaten and lose at 3-4 North Carolina State, 48-36. So much for being historical.

Tulane — Can’t be losing by 22 at 3-4 Texas San Antone.

Cincinnati — You can lose at Utah, even if you were ranked higher. But maybe not by 45-14.

Houston — You had one loss. Visiting West Virginia had two wins. Cougs fell 45-35. Good thing they scored last.

Dishonorable Mention:

Syracuse — Shouldn’t be losing to North Carolina at home. By 17.

Clemson — You already knew this. But lost at home to Duke on 2-pointer at end. Duke drove 94 yards for winning score, converting two fourth downs along the way. First time Tigers have four home losses since 1998.

Colorado — Again you already knew this. But 52-17 to Arizona? At home? Good thing coach didn’t let players talk to media afterward

Auburn — Lost 10-3 at home to Kentucky. And so another coach is gone. This is how college football works these days. Had won 19 of previous 20 meetings. Hadn’t lost to Wildcats at home since 09.

Washington State and Oregon State — OSU won at home 10-7. WSU missed tying field goal at end. Nobody cared unless maybe you bet on it. Bad news is they will play again later this month at WSU. Which means this one didn’t count in the Pac 2 standings. Can’t make that up.

Temple — Almost never pick on the Owl, for all the obvious reasons. And it’s ok to lose to East Carolina in South Philly. But 45-14?  I don’t think so. Not when you’re trying to get bowl eligible for the first time in awhile. That’s all. And it was 14-14 after 19 minutes. Just saying.
