La Salle Ready for Rosemont

The Explorers Ties a Record in 107 – 41 Win Over the Ravens

PHILADELPHIA, PA. 12/21/2023 –

In their last outing La Salle lost to nationally ranked Miami. The opponent today was the Division III Rosemont Ravens. The Explorers began the week preparing for the game, and showed they were ready to take on the opposition, no matter who in a 107 – 41 win over the Rosemont Ravens. This another sign of growth for this team.

“We had a tough game on Saturday,” said La Salle Coach Fran Dunphy. “I thought on Tuesday and Wednesday we returned. I credit that to the veteran guys who know the deal. We have a home game against a Division III opponent, we need to play our best basketball and get as many minutes played by guys that don’t get much of a chance. I thought our guys accomplished.”

The ball went up and the body of work showed. La Salle tied a program record handing out 35 assists, tying the mark set against Loyola (MD) in the 1966-67 season. Guard Khalil Brantley led the team with 12, a career-high to go along with 8 points.

All 13 players scored at least 3 points and took down a rebound or more. Redshirt freshman Ryan Zan scored 19 points, his new collegiate-best. Five players scored in double-figures; Rokas Jocius (15), Daeshon Shepherd (12), Jhamir Brickus and Andres Marrero who added 10 points.

The Explorers made 43 of 72 field goal attempts for a season-best 59.7% from the floor.

James Joseph (4), Tommy Gardler (6), Milos Kovacevic (6), and Efe Tahmaz scored for the first time as a collegiate player.

“It was nice to get as many guys the opportunity to play as well did,” Dunphy said. “Everybody did as good as they could do. I’m pleased with how they played.”

Next up for La Salle (9 – 3) is a December 30 game hosting Howard.
