November 6, 2021 –

The 12th ranked Saint Joseph’s Hawks came into the title game as the top-seed. Saint Joe’s wins 1 – 0 on a third quarter goal by Hawks forward Anna Miller at the 32:26 mark. SJU wins the Atlantic 10 crown for the fifth time in program history, and has won it for the fourth time in five years. Saint Joe’s Freke van Tilburg was named the Most Outstanding Player.

Last season VCU defeated SJU by a 1- 0 score in Richmond to claim the title. This year the Hawks reclaim the title at Ellen Ryan Field. The winning goal came two and a half minutes into the third quarter. SJU forward Manu Ghigliotti took a shot that was saved off the post by VCU Goalie Sasha Elliott. Miller controlled the rebound and sent it home for the golden goal.

Saint Joseph’s had a 13 – 2 edge in shots which forced Elliott to make 6 saves. Hawks goalie Robin Bleekemolen saved 2 shots to record her 10th shutout of the season, and tie the school record set by Victoria Kammerinke in 2018.

Miller, Ghigliotti, van Tilburg, Katy Benton, and Sol Borensztein were named to the All-Championship team.

Saint Joseph’s will play in the NCAA Tournament. The field will be announced on Sunday at 10 PM.
