La Salle Qualifies for the Atlantic 10 Tournament, Drexel in the Postseason
The La Salle Explorers needed a win over Duquesne to make the A10 Tournament field and they did it. La Salle also defeated Columbia earlier in the week. But the key game was against the Duquesne Dukes at home. Omar Cotterell scored the golden goal to win it 1 – 0 in the 81st minute, and secure a berth, and hand the Dukes their sole conference loss. La Salle and Duquesne meet in the quarterfinal round on November 5th, a rematch….The Drexel Dragons are readying themselves for the postseason. Drexel won a non-conference game at Lehigh, but fell 2 – 1 at Stony Brook. The Dragons had clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament earlier. This will be the third straight season that Drexel has qualified, a program-first. The Northeastern Huskies will be the opponent in the tournament….The Villanova Wildcats won a non-conference road game against Navy. Tomer Drimmer let a shot go that got inside the left post for the only goal of the game, and it snaps a four-game losing streak….The Temple Owls earned a draw in The American tying UAB 1 – 1 on the road. Fridtjof Andberg found the back of the net for the first time this season at 49:12. The Owls close out league play vs. Charlotte on North Broad Street….The #16 University of Pennsylvania Quakers had their 10-game unbeaten streak come to an end when Harvard scored twice late to win. It was the first loss for Penn since September 9th in a game against Albany. The game-winner for the Crimson was scored at 84:54. Isaac McGinnis and Stas Korzeniowski had the goals for the Red and Blue, both scored in the first half….The Saint Joseph’s Hawks needed a win at Saint Louis to get into the league postseason. The Hawks fell 1 – 0 to the Billikens on a John Klein goal in the 74th minute. Saint Joe’s falls one-point shot of qualifying for the A10 Tournament.
Games of October 24 – October 30, 2022
DREXEL 6 – 4 – 6 Overall, 3 – 3 – 3 CAA
Results – Won 1 – 0 at Lehigh, Lost 2 – 1 at Stony Brook
Summary – Dominick Bachstein scored with 38 seconds left in regulation to left Drexel to a win at Lehigh in a non-conference game. Joshua Pulla scored at Stony Brook in the 40th minute, but Trevor Harrison scored at 72:01 to win it. Harrison scored both Stony Brook goals.
Next Game – November 3 CAA Tournament vs. Northeastern
LA SALLE 5 – 8 – 4 Overall, 3 – 3 – 2 Atlantic 10
Results – Won 3 – 0 vs. Columbia, Won 1 – 0 vs. Duquesne.
Summary – Omar Cotterell scored 3 goals over the week. He has 6 goals for the season to tie him with Nigel Buckley for the team-lead. Filip Sabatti made 5 saves shutting out Duquesne. Luis Puchol had the other Explorers goal in the Lions game.

#16 PENN – 10 – 2 – 2 Overall, 4 – 1 – 0 Ivy League
Results– Lost 3 – 2 at Harvard
Summary – Penn dropped an Ivy League game for the first time this season. The Quakers had two goals, but it was the initial loss when scoring twice since the 2014 season.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 3 – 6 – 8 Overall, 2 – 2 – 4 Atlantic 10
Results – Lost 1 – 0 at Saint Louis
Summary – Saint Joseph’s was outshot 17 – 12. The deficit was 5 – 4 in shots on goal.
Next Game – The 2023 Season Opener
TEMPLE 4 – 8 – 3 Overall, 1 – 6 – 1 AAC
Results – Tied 1- 1 at UAB
Summary – The Owls outshot the Blazers 17 – 8 and on goal by a 4 – 2 margin. Yann Kouemi had 5 shots with 1 on goal. Mike Eijgendaal had 3 shots with 2 requiring a save.
Next Game – November 2 vs. Charlotte
VILLANOVA 6 – 8 – 2 Overall, 2 – 6 – 1 Big East
Results – Won 1 – 0 at Navy
Summary – The golden goal by Drimmer came in the 77th minute. Anthony Cousins, Jr. got the assist.
